Everyone has pretty much always known that dolphins were one of the smartest animals on Earth. But recently scientists have discovered that these creatures might just like watching T.V. like us. For there research, Kelly A. Winship and Holli C. Eskelinen got 11 bottle nose and five rough toothed dolphins. The group of dolphins got to watch two shows- episodes of planet earth, and Spongebob Squarepants. The mammals showed equal love for both the shows, but surprisingly, the males showed more interest than the female dolphins. The males would spend more time staring at the screens, and would sometimes make a head jerk, a jaw clap, raising there chin, and pressing there foreheads up against the T.V. There is still more to learn about the dolphins preferences of T.V. shows but until then, if you have a pet dolphin, let it watch some T.V!

Over the last few decades, astronomers have been identified planets outside of our solar system. But, they have not been able to find confirmation of a moon revolving around any of the distant worlds, mainly because the smaller satellites are harder to spot. Now, researchers at the Colombia university think they have found evidence of an alien moon orbiting a gaseous exoplanet which is almost 8000 light years away. Specifically, the scientists have been looking for two dips in light. one caused by the exoplanet, and the second most likely smaller, celestial body. After looking through the data, the researchers were able to find one exoplanet, kelper 1625b that looked promising. "We saw little deviations and wobbles in the light curve which caught our attention."
Veterans day, celebrated on November 11th, is when everyone honors the brave solders that risked there lives to keep our country safe. This includes all veterans (alive or not) who has served in the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard, and Cost Guard. The two holidays Veterans day and Memorial day often get mixed up. Memorial Day which happens on the last Monday of may. They both serve the same purpose but Memorial Day honors all the people that have died or been wounded in the US military, where as Veterans Day honors every one in who has sacrificed there lives for our country, both alive and dead. Then the date of the holiday was then called Armistice day was selected because the allied nations and Germany called ceasefire at 11:00 A.M. on November 11, 1918. Thank you veterans!
Just picture a big test that you have to get ready for, well that means you have to study. But if you are like me and you study and then you forget all of it, this font can help you. Sans Forgetica has two main features, the backward eight degree slant and small openings in the letters. This new font is challenging to the eyes but legible. The RMIT says not to put it in text normally just in different spots in the text. If you read it normally your eyes will become immune to the font and you will just get used to reading it. It has been released for free download since October third 2018.
You hear the doorbell and you rush to the door, you open it and "Trick or Treat!" you see ghosts and super heroes. It's Halloween! before you give out the candy, the kids will probably say, "trick or treat!" But why do they say that. In the united states and Canada Halloween or "Trick or Treating" is a popular event since the late 1950's. Children of all ages dress up in costumes and go from door to door around there neighborhood and get candy or other treats in response of them saying "Trick or Treat." The phrase means that if the owner of house gives them candy they will not perform a trick. This comes from the old tradition called "souling" and "guising." In the middle ages people from Ireland and Britain would go souling on hallomas (November 1). Souling consisted on going door to door asking for food and in return saying prayers for the dead on All Souls Day (November 2). Guising started in Scotland in the late 19th century. Kids would dress in costumes or wear masks trying to dress like the evil spirits, hoping to keep them away. They asked for money, cakes, and fruit. "Trick or Treating" started in western United States and Canada and slowly moved east. So, now that you know, happy "Trick or Treating!"
NASA's exciting journey to "touch the sun" started 3:31 A.M August 12 2018 at the launch in Cape Canaveral Florida. In six weeks the spacecraft will be traveling at the speed of 39,500 miles per hour (mph). The missions scientists estimate that the probe will get about 15 million miles from the sun surface by early November. Then when it is on it's last orbit around the sun sometime in 2024 the satellite will get closer to the sun than any other space craft before, 3.83 million miles from it's surface! Since they will be circling the sun for 7 years the scientists hope to see the suns 11 year activity cycle which ranges between calm to stormy. The ultimate success 1.5 billion mission, humans first ever attempt to make it to the suns corona depends on to heat shield and whether it can hold up to the heat and keep the heat sensitive instruments safe at a comfortable temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pet owners usually don't have a choice to not put a microchip on there pet because you never know if your cat or dog or any other animal will end up some how escaping. However this Siberian husky in Israel did not need this new technology, he could sing! When the police found a tame healthy dog at the outside of Beersheba, they took the dog to town and looked through there records to see if anybody had reported a missing husky. When they looked saw that a Beersheba resident had filed a missing husky. However instead of coming right over the man asked the police to play the soundtracks to Arthur and Shemesh to help him identify the dog. When this dog heard the song he immediately perked up and started "singing." it might of sounded like howling to the people watching, but the owner immediately noticed it and rushed over.when he got there he said to the dog, "you poor thing" and then adding to that he said, "thank you thank you so much." So see if you can teach your dog to sing because maybe someday it might come in handy!
Okay so I am pretty shore that we all know what a snake is, but you might not of ever heard of a TWO HEADED snake. Well recently there was a woman in Woodbrige, Virginia who was working with her flowers when she spoted a two headed Copperhead snake! These snake get there names from there redish-brown heads. Usually most people would run for there own lives but not this brave woman. Instead she captured it! But before she could catch it her neighbor had a chance to get aquick video/picture of it. She then posted it on her Facebook page. On September 21, 2018 the Virginia wildlife center picked up the snake. Finding a dead two headed snake is rare. Just imagine catching a living one! This is because the two brains compete against each other which then makes it harder to get away from predators fast enough and find food. So if you ever see a two headed snake, don't kill it just slowly back away and call the nearest wildlife center.
Have you ever been on an airplane? If you have then you might know about the strict rules that might not even allow you to take water. Well it wasn't always like that. This all changed on September 11 2001. People were on there way or at school/work when others might of been still sleeping. Then at 8:46, American Flight 11 crashed into the North Twin Tower. This crash caused a huge hole from the 93rd to the 99th floor. Everyone just assumed that it was just an accident caused by pilot failure. But it diffidently was not. There were four teams of terrorists each with an experienced pilot. Then at 9:03 a.m. the United Flight 175 hurtled into the South Twin Tower. Then before anyone could deeply think about what was going on, American Flight 77 hit the Pentagon building and not that long after united flight 93 crash-landed near Shanksvile Pennsylvania. These tragic advents will never be forgotten nor will the people on those planes ever become forgot.
You have probably all heard of the Rubix Cube right? Well 3 million of them have been sold so they are probably one of the worlds most popular toy ever! They have been on the market for over 44 years and still only 6% of the worlds population is able to solve them. An Israel based startup is introducing GoCube, a high tech version of the Rubix Cube. A man named Udi Dor first thought of the idea in 2016 when he was with his friends. (one of them was playing with a Rubix cube.) Udi Dor thought that it would be even more fun if people could compete against each other without leaving there homes. The user will have to download an app that tracks the progress of the GoCube and will even supply you with tutorial videos for those who get stuck. This new toy is expected to come out around April 2019 and is not exactly going to be cheap. the price for a normal GoCube will range around $119.
If you ever watch movies about the ocean than you probably know what dangers the ocean can through at you. When the R.M.S Titanic was built and launched it was the biggest ship that could actually float. The Titanic left Queens Town, Ireland on April 11, 1912. Many people believed the rumor that the Titanic was,"Unsinkable." That probably helped the fact that there were 2,200 passengers. The Titanic was also the biggest and fastest boat that could actually float in it's time. This ship was was 882.5 feet long, 92.5 feet wide and 175 feet tall. That all changed on April 15th, 1912. In the middle of the night the titanic scraped up against an ice burg, creating a hole on the starboard (right) side.
